The Sarah Reed Justice Campaign was initiated to support the Reed Family get to the truth and thus much needed closure from the tragic events leading up to the death of their 32 year old daughter Sarah in Holloway prison on January 11 th 2016. A vigil and later a peaceful protest outside the prison, which has since closed down, attracted hundreds of supporters. Sarah’s
mother, Marilyn Reed and members of the campaign have gained the endorsement and support of thousands within the TUC movement, the AntiRacist movement, the Black Lives Matter movement in the US and the general British public through advocacy, newspaper articles and Twitter storm The campaign aims to mobilise and highlight the intersectionality of women, race, mental health and criminal justice to prevent more Sarah’s dying in custody and hold the authorities to account.
